A monthly gathering for families with young kids to read together from picture books. The librarians will host a discussion and craft afterwards. This month's book is A Lot of Otters (author Barbara Berger). Thanks to Literacy Council of Alaska, each family gets to keep a copy of the book!!!

Fly tying contest!!

A local fly-fishing club, The Midnight Sun Fly Casters, is sponsoring the contest which includes a youth category in the competition.


The teenage and youth class winners will receive a scholarship to the Midnight Sun Fly Casters' Kids Camp at Twin Bears Camp (May 30-June1).


Copies of the contest rules and entry forms are available at the Alaska Fly Shop at 1875 University Avenue and at Blue Moose Rafting Sales and Outfitting at 816 28th Ave.

This card making event is part of the Yukon Quest Fest on Saturday. Lots and lots going on downtown. How fun to create your own Valentine card for your special someone. $1 per card.


Their website posts they have Yukon Quest related scrapbooking die cuts they made in the store. Take your kids and creativity and go.
***The website also states they are closed if it's colder than 40 below zero.
